Johnson: Championship Manager saved me

Liverpool defender Glen Johnson has revealed that football managment computer game Championship Manager has helped him escape boredom during his lengthy injury layoff.

The former Portsmouth and Chelsea full-back has not featured for Rafael Benitez's side since December when he sustained a knee injury in the 1-0 win at Aston Villa.

And the 25-year-old - who is hoping to recover in time to take his place in Fabio Capello's England squad for the World Cup finals - says the time off has helped him achieve something this season that he may not in real life - winning silverware with the Reds!

“I'm sick of TV now. When you're confined to the couch you'll look at anything,” he said in the Mail.

“Thankfully Championship Manager got me through that time too. I won everything with Liverpool.”
