Cordoba stadium to be renamed after Kempes

The stadium, built for the 1978 finals in the Chateau Carreras district of Cordoba city in north-central Argentina, is being refurbished as a venue for next year's Copa America, the South American championship.

"Our initiative is to recognise Cordoba's greatest footballer, Mario Alberto Kempes, who gave us the joy of the 1978 World Cup," Cordoba province governor Juan Schiaretti told reporters at the site on Wednesday.
