CSKA Sofia knocked out of Bulgarian Cup

SOFIA - Champions CSKA Sofia were knocked out of the Bulgarian Cup in the quarter-finals on Wednesday while holders Litex Lovech and league leaders Levski Sofia reached the last four.

CSKA, the most successful Bulgarian club with 31 league titles, were dumped out 5-3 on penalties by Pirin Blagoevgrad following a 1-1 draw after extra time.

They took the lead through Brazilian midfielder Marquinhos after 58 minutes but Pirin, who have never won the Cup, forced extra time when Spas Delev levelled with 12 minutes remaining.

Litex thrashed surprise quarter-finalists Nesebar 5-1 while veteran striker Georgi Ivanov and Macedonia international Darko Tasevski scored in Levski's 2-0 win at Vihren.
