Fiorentina keen to tie down Jovetic
Fiorentina are reportedly planning contract talks with starlet Stevan Jovetic – linked with Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City – to fend off speculation tipping the highly-rated youngster to leave the Italian club.
The Montenegro international has played a pivotal part in the Viola’s bright start to the season and is fast becoming one of the hottest properties in Serie A.
Jovetic’s double helped Fiorentina beat Liverpool en route to qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League, and his impressive displays have caught the eye of a number of major European outfits.
His club, however, are desperate to hang on to the 20-year-old and, according to La Nazione, are planning to open negotiations in early 2010 where they intend to insert a €25 million release clause as part of an improved contract.
The player’s agent previously confirmed Jovetic would not be leaving during the January transfer window, but refused to rule out a move at the end of the season.
