Ledley King leaves England training camp

Ledley King has returned to Tottenham Hotspur and will not be involved in England's friendly with Slovakia on Saturday nor next week's World Cup qualifier against Ukraine, the Football Association said on Tuesday.

King's surprise call-up to the squad was described as "mad" by Spurs manager Harry Redknapp as the defender is unable to train properly and can play only one game per week because of a chronic knee injury.

"It has been agreed by both parties that the best interests of the player are served by continuing his individual training programme at the club and he will play no further part in England's preparations," the FA said.
