Galatasaray have terminated Kolbeinn Sigthorsson's loan deal without the Iceland international making a single appearance.
Sigthorsson scored twice in Iceland's memorable run to the quarter-finals of Euro 2016, including the winner to stun England in the round of 16.
However, his club career in France had already flattered to deceive by that point and, after two scoreless outings for Nantes this term, he joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan deal that contained an agreement for the Super Lig outfit to buy the 26-year-old striker for €3.8million on April 30, 2017.
But a knee injury sustained on international duty in September ruined his time in Istanbul and Gala have opted to cut their losses, with the player accepting a payment of €400,000 as opposed to the €1.18m he was entitled to under the terms of his full loan deal.
