Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Kevin Trapp insists Unai Emery staying on as head coach at the Parc des Princes would be a popular decision.
Last weekend's 3-1 defeat at Nice means PSG are likely to cede the Ligue 1 title for the first time in five seasons, with Monaco in the driving seat to claim glory.
PSG thrashed bottom club Bastia 5-0 on Saturday before Monaco won 3-0 at 19th-placed Nancy, leaving Leonardo Jardim's team three points clear with three matches to play – one more game than PSG have in reserve.
Emery did guide the capital club to Coupe de la Ligue glory with a 4-1 win over Monaco and PSG face Angers in the Coupe de France final this month, but the prospect of losing top spot in Ligue 1 has prompted speculation over the former Sevilla boss' future.
"There will always be rumours, it does not bother us," Trapp told Telefoot.
"We have to focus on our work, it's the press' job to write, but it does not bother us.
"He's a very good coach, it takes time to adapt. It's normal, but we've made a lot of progress with him. I will be glad if he stays."
Monaco's superior goal difference means they effectively need one more win to be crowned champions for the first time since 2000, but Trapp is not ready to give up hope.
"Of course, we know it's more complicated now after the defeat against Nice, but Thiago Motta said it a week ago – in football, there are things that can happen.
"Last season, with 83 points, one would have been champion. You have to respect what Monaco have done this season. It's also good for Ligue 1 to have a tight championship, but it's not over yet."
Emery's debut campaign in the French capital is also cast in a harsh light by what should have been his finest hour – the 4-0 Champions League home win over Barcelona disintegrating into a 6-5 last-16 aggregate reverse at Camp Nou.
"This kind of match is inexplicable," Trapp added. "We wanted to play like the first leg because the goal was to get through to the quarter-finals.
"What happened in this game does not always happen. We were all disappointed. We'll talk about it a long time because it's a historic game.
"But it was necessary to advance, that is what I said before the match against Monaco in the Coupe de la Ligue.
"For us, unfortunately, it went wrong, but we must forget. It's part of a player's life."
