Vidic & Ferguson scoop January prizes
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and central defender Nemanja Vidic have picked up the Premier League manager and player of the month awards for January.
Both awards are richly deserved with United returning from lifting the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan in December by stretching their winning run to 12 league games without conceding a goal, overtaking Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.
The Red Devils began the year with an emphatic 3-0 victory against Chelsea at Old Trafford, with Vidic heading home the opener deep in first-half stoppage-time.
That was followed by 1-0 victories over Wigan, Bolton and Everton either side of a 5-0 hammering of West Bromwich Albion, with Vidic again among the scorers.
The Serbian defender picks up his first monthy gong, while for Ferguson it is his 22nd manager of the month prize.
