Battle ropes are a piece of training equipment, that can help to give you a killer strength and cardiovascular workout. They normally form part of a circuit of exercises but can also be used on their own in a single session.

How does it work?
The ropes are normally moved up and down at speed, which provides a stern test for both arms. However, shaking them in different directions, for example side to side, places more emphasis on the hips and core - find out which method suits your needs.
Who uses it?
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has posted pictures of him using battle ropes on Instagram and other fans of it include Watford’s Troy Deeney and Chelsea defender John Terry, as well as athletes in many other sports.
Why are they using it?
The ropes have become popular as an alternative conditioning tool to traditional training, such as running, cycling or rowing, and the resistance provided by the weight of the battleropes also makes them more challenging. No pain, no gain!
