ROTTERDAM - Ajax Amsterdam eased to a 5-1 win at bottom side RKC Waalwijk to reduce the gap on Dutch league leaders Twente Enschede to four points on Sunday.
Twente were held to a 1-1 draw by PSV Eindhoven but remained on top with 71 points and six matches remaining. Ajax are second with 67 and PSV slipped to third on 66.
Siem de Jong put Ajax ahead with a close-range header after nine minutes but before the break an own goal by Marko Pantelic levelled the scores.
A second-half double by Luis Suarez, his 28th and 29th goals of the season, put Ajax back on track and Waalwijk finished with 10 men following a double booking for Ruud Berger.
Elsewhere, an early goal from David Mendes da Silva earned AZ Alkmaar a 1-0 win at Sparta Rotterdam and Groningen beat Roda JC Kerkrade 1-0.
Alkmaar moved into fifth with 48 points, three behind Feyenoord who have a game in hand as their home match against Vitesse Arnhem was abandoned with the score at 1-1 at half time due to heavy rainfall.comments
