Japan starlet Lee signs for Hiroshima

TOKYO - Former South Korea tryout turned Japan U23 international Tadanari Lee has joined Sanfrecce Hiroshima, the J-League club said on Wednesday.

The Korean-Japanese striker, a member of Japan's squad at last year's Beijing Olympic tournament, signed an 18-month deal from J-League rivals Kashiwa Reysol.

Lee, who obtained Japanese citizenship in 2007, has had limited first-team opportunities this season in a Reysol side rooted near the foot of the J-League first division.

"It was a very difficult decision to leave with team in its current position," said the 23-year-old. "I decided to leave in order to give myself the chance to grow as a player."
