Santon set for knee surgery

ROME - Inter Milan's teenage defender Davide Santon needs surgery after injuring his knee in Italy's 4-0 win over Luxembourg in a European under-21 championships qualifier on Tuesday.

"Tests showed an injury to the lateral meniscus of the right knee," the Serie A champions said on their website on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old has won five full Italy caps since making his international debut against Northern Ireland in June, but had dropped back to the under-21 squad after his failure to make Inter's starting line-up of late.
