Torres: Lampard right to hail Barca as best

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has joined Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard in hailing Barcelona as the best team in Europe. And the former Atletico Madrid man believes Pep Guardiola's men can go on to lift their second Champions League title in four years. Barcelona will play Chelsea, who knocked out Liverpool in the last eight, in the semi-finals next week. And although history would suggest that the Blues' name is already on the trophy - every winner since 2002 has been the team who knocked out Real Madrid's conquerers - Torres is confident the Catalans can finally put an end to the 'Real Madrid curse' and be crowned kings of Europe. "Barcelona are clearly the best side in Europe," he said in the Mirror.

"United's squad of players is very impressive. You barely notice when they have players out.

"They have footballers like Tevez, Berbatov or Giggs on the bench. But even so I think Barcelona would get the better of them.

"Manchester United suffer an awful lot if they do not control possession.

"Barcelona have much more quality about them and no doubt if the two were to meet, Barca would have the lions-share of possession and that would hurt United."
