Germany Euro 2024 squad: Julian Nagelsmann's full squad for the tournament build-up
The Germany Euro 2024 squad starts taking shape now, as the hosts prepare for this summer's huge tournament
Germany's Euro 2024 squad announcement isn't far away, with the hosts aiming to be crowned champions of Europe for the first time since 1996.
While they have qualified automatically, the three-time winners' preparations so far haven't been entirely ideal, with Julian Nagelsmann taking over after Hansi Flick became the first Germany boss ever to be sacked.
Three straight defeats – part of a longer run of five games without a win – culminated in a 4-1 friendly loss to Japan cost Flick his job last September. This is a Germany team in transition and Nagelsmann has big improvements to make in the coming months ahead of Euro 2024.
March's wins over France and rivals the Netherlands were certainly promising, though, and the Germans will no doubt back themselves to top a Euros group also containing Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland.
As with every team at the tournament, FourFourTwo will bring you all the latest on Germany as we report live from the European Championship.

Germany manager: Julian Nagelsmann
Forced to retire from playing at the age of 20 because of injury problems, Julian Nagelsmann devoted his efforts to becoming a coach instead. He started out at Hoffenheim, taking over as first-team manager in 2016.

After leading Hoffenheim into the Champions League, Nagelsmann moved on to RB Leipzig, who reached the DFB-Pokal final in 2021. His brief spell in charge of Bayern Munich yielded a Bundesliga title but he was sacked in March. Recently appointed as Germany manager, his contract only lasts until next summer.
Germany's star player
Joshua Kimmich
All being well, Joshua Kimmich won't be far off 100 caps for Germany by the time Euro 2024 rolls around.
The versatile Bayern Munich playmaker has established himself as one of the best midfielders in world football – although he's proved himself equally adept right-back – getting his hands on every piece of silverware on offer at club level.
If Germany are to bounce back from the ignominy of their 2022 World Cup group stage exit, Kimmich will be key – wherever he lines up.
FAQs
How many players are Germany allowed to take to Euro 2024?
UEFA confirmed in February that each competing nation will be able to name a final squad of 23 players in their Euro 2024 squads, including a mandatory three goalkeepers.
After a couple of tournaments featuring 26-player teams, UEFA have now reverted from the expanded squad.
National managers were allowed to bring 26 players to 2021's European Championship for the first time at a major tournament, as a special measure brought in due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the fixture congestion, the expanded squads returned for the World Cup. Without those same issues, 23-player squads have made a return.
