Clubs queue up for new Adebayor

The 19-year-old CFR Cluj striker - dubbed the 'new Emmanuel Adebayor' - stands at an astonishing 6ft 8in.

And after several eye-catching performances in Romania, Emirates Stadium supremo Wenger is believed to be ready to take a gamble on the youngster, teaming him up with fellow countryman Emmanuel Eboue in North London.

Cluj president Iuliu Muresan has confirmed that Arsenal are interested in the player.

"We have been in contact with Arsenal but have not received any concrete offer. €4 million is the fee we are looking for," he told Prosport.

While Traore himself has admitted he would relish the opportunity to run out for the Gunners.

"It would be a dream for me to get to play on a team so great. I have a chance there because Arsene Wenger relies heavily on young players," he said.

"There is great pressure on me now because I am being linked with big European clubs, but this is my ambition.

"The Ivory Coast coach has already told me I will get my chance with the national team, but my chances of that happening would certainly increase if I was to join a big team like Arsenal.

"It is sensational to hear Wenger is watching me. I could be a success in England."

The Frenchman has already made it clear that he is in the market for a forward following the loss of Robin van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner through injury.

However, Traore’s agent Thomas Boehm has insisted that although he has been contacted by several clubs about the player, the Gunners are not one of them.

“The situation regarding Traore is as follows," he told Sport.co.uk.

"The player and I are aware of the rumours of interest from Arsenal, but there are other clubs interested as well in the player. I can confirm that no one from Arsenal has contacted me directly.

“I have had no information from Arsenal regarding the player. The only contact is with FC Cluj, nobody from Arsenal has called me, and the only interest I have received is from other clubs. We will have to wait and see.”
