Palace boss Hodgson hoping Benteke can build on Belgium goal

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is hopeful Christian Benteke’s goal for Belgium can act as a turning point for the striker, but warned he will need to score regularly for his club to win back his starting position.

The 28-year-old agreed a new deal on Thursday which will keep him at Selhurst Park until the summer of 2021 and scored in a 9-0 win over San Marino last week.

FourFourTwo Staff

FourFourTwo was launched in 1994 on the back of a World Cup that England hadn’t even qualified for. It was an act of madness… but it somehow worked out. Our mission is to offer our intelligent, international audience access to the game’s biggest names, insightful analysis... and a bit of a giggle. We unashamedly love this game and we hope that our coverage reflects that.
