Race meetings and football fixtures affected by wet weather

Heavy rain hit Saturday’s sporting schedule, with six games in the English Football League and two race meetings postponed.

Nottingham Forest’s Sky Bet Championship game against Reading was the biggest casualty after heavy overnight rain left puddles on the pitch at the City Ground and referee Geoff Eltringham decided it was unplayable.
