Following intense speculation that Spurs striker Jermain Defoe had broken his foot in training, it was reported by Sky Sports on Friday evening that the England front-man will be "out for three weeks with a foot injury." Defoe has scored three goals in four starts since he returned to White Hart Lane from Portsmouth earlier this month, and was hoping to forge a strong partnership with Russian forward Roman Pavlyuchenko in the Tottenham attack.
Earlier on Friday, the News of the World had reported that Defoe would be out for the rest of the season with a broken foot, quoting a Spurs source as saying: "It's a massive blow. We don't know exactly how long Jermain will be out but it seems likely it will be at least eight to 10 weeks."
