River Plate player positive for doping

BUENOS AIRES - River Plate defender Rodrigo Archubi has tested positive for a banned substance, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) said on Thursday.

Archubi, who has been provisionally suspended and summoned to an AFA disciplinary tribunal hearing, tested positive for the undisclosed substance in a test conducted after River's 2-2 draw at home against Gimnasia-La Plata on September 27.

River, one of Argentine's "big two" clubs, are struggling in 16th place in the Clausura championship with five points from eight matches.
