Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack may miss the start of the Premier League campaign after suffering a toe injury during the Blues’ pre-season tour of the United States. The German featured in the Londoners' 2-0 win over Seattle Sounders on Saturday, but then sustained a suspected broken toe during training on Monday. The injury has forced the 32-year-old to return to England for treatment, and he is now a major doubt for the Blues’ Community Shield clash against Premier League champions Manchester United on August 9. Manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed Ballack is struggling with a toe problem, but that he is the side’s only injury concern for the Blues on their pre-season tour.
"Ballack yesterday took a knock on the toe, but everybody else is okay and didn't have injuries in this period," he said.
