Manchester City striker Erling Haaland missed his side's 1-0 win over Leicester on Saturday due to ligament damage, manager Pep Guardiola has revealed.

Haaland was absent as the champions beat the Foxes 1-0 in the Premier League at the King Power Stadium, with Kevin De Bruyne's fantastic free-kick early in the second half separating the two teams.

Asked by the BBC when the Norwegian will be back in action, Guardiola said: "I don't know. He has ligament damage. He feels better, we have one more week.

"He won't play against Sevilla (in the Champions League) because we've already qualified and hopefully against Fulham he can help us. If not he might play against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup."

The 22-year-old, who has scored 22 goals in all competitions this season, picked up the injury against former club Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

In Haaland's absence, Guardiola handed a start to Julian Alvarez against Leicester and the Argentine international looks set to receive another opportunity in the game at home to Sevilla next Wednesday.
