Kirkland crocked for up to three weeks

Wigan Athletic will be without first-choice goalkeeper Chris Kirkland for up to three weeks after he damaged his collarbone, the Premier League club said on Monday.

"It is important that we get him back in contention as soon as possible, but we have to be certain that the injury is healed before risking him," Wigan boss Roberto Martinez told the club website.

The 28-year-old suffered the injury in an accidental collision in training last week.

Wigan sit 14th in the league table on 22 points after 20 games, three points above the relegation zone.
