Sanchez future debate baffling to Wenger

Arsene Wenger has voiced his dismay with the ongoing debate over Alexis Sanchez's future at Arsenal amid speculation linking the Chile international with a move to Chelsea.

Sanchez's contract with Arsenal expires in June 2018 and Wenger recently revealed that talks over a new deal have been put on hold until the end of the season.

The uncertainty over the 28-year-old's long-term future has fuelled speculation he has set his sights on a move elsewhere, with Antonio Conte believed to be keen to lure him to Stamford Bridge.

Wenger sees no reason for concern, though, and has stressed the attacker still has well over a year left on his existing deal.

"Sanchez still has one and a half years left on his contract. I do not understand that debate," said Wenger.

"Our job is to perform as long as we are there. I do not understand this kind of anxiety.

"It is absolutely denying what a professional guy is about."

Sanchez has been a key figure for Arsenal this season, scoring 18 goals in 28 Premier League outings.
