Kjaer cools United claims

Palermo defender Simon Kjaer - reportedly wanted by Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid - has played down reports that he is set to join the Premier League champions. The highly-rated 20-year-old has caught the eye of a host of European heavyweights after impressing in Serie A following his move from FC Midtjylland in 2008. However, after claims that United supremo Sir Alex Ferguson was weighing up a move for his services, Kjaer has insisted that he is not looking to move away from the Rosanero. "Manchester United? I am happy here in Palermo and I want to help with the push for European football," he said in La Repubblica. "I have three years to go on my contract. Plus, I have not spoken to anyone and I am fully focused on Palermo."

Kjaer - a self-confessed Liverpool fan - had hinted in the summer that he would be interested in a move to England. But the Danish international - who was won seven caps - said he did not view next summer's World Cup as an opportunity to attract the attentions of bigger clubs. "The World Cup will be an incredible experience for me, but I don't think it will serve as a shop window," he said. “I am concentrated on Palermo, even after the World Cup. "Will another season at Palermo be good for me? I cannot think about what will happen in six months, I have to think day by day."
