Sydney FC are facing a gruelling preseason as new coach Graham Arnold turns the Sky Blues into title contenders.
Before the A-League season starts in October, however, there’s some heavy hitters to face across the ditch.
The Football United Tour of New Zealand kicks off next week with English Premier League sides Newcastle United and West Ham taking on the A-League's Wellington Phoenix and Sydney FC.
Sydney coach Graham Arnold said: “It’s a wonderful opportunity for the boys to play Premier League stars.
“The boys have worked hard at training the last four or five weeks getting ready for New Zealand. We’re in some decent good shape for when we go over there.
“The next two months is about getting our structure right, the patterns of play right, getting our fitness levels high and getting ready for the competition."
