It was not the spectacle we all expected but the last five minutes of Adelaide United vs Melbourne Victory was something else. Griffin McMaster gives us his player ratings from tonight's 1-1 draw at Adelaide Oval.
EUGENE GALEKOVIC – 7
Didn’t have a lot to do. Had a comfortable match.
DYLAN MCGOWAN – 7.5
Solid at the back. Kept a clean sheet.
TAREK ELRICH – 7
Did his job. More effective last week as a part of a back three.
NIGEL BOOGAARD – 7
Held his own at the back. Solid on set pieces defending.
ISAIAS – 7
Screened well in the holding midfield role.
SERGIO CIRIO – 7.5
Scored what was almost the match winner with some brilliant individual play. What a goal!
CRAIG GOODWIN – 6.5
When he was on the ball he provided some good crosses, although he needed to get into the game more.
PABLO SANCHEZ – 6
Quiet again. Needs to lift.
JAMES JEGGO – 6.5
Ok against his old club however felt wanting. Poor defending from his part on the goal against.
MARCELO CARRUSCA – 7
His set pieces deliveries were superb otherwise was quite good.
BRUCE DJITE – 6
Didn’t look as good as last week. Did have a snap shot from a tough angle which was well saved by Coe and again late on.
MICHAEL MARRONE – 5
Came on late. Not a lot to do.
FABIO FERREIRA – 5
Didn’t really have a lot of time to make an impact.
NATHAN COE – 7.5
Did well. Made a good save off Bruce Djite in the second half and again late on. Did fumble a cross however the ball was cleared.
DANIEL GEORGIEVSKI – 7
Was good last week and been the same this week, will improve with more games.
MATTHIEU DELPEIRRE – 8
Looked solid. Very calming influence for the side. Can certainly tell he’s played in much bigger matches. Didn’t looked perturbed with the surface and atmosphere.
JASON GERIA – 7.5
Solid. Would have kept a clean sheet had he still been on.
ADRIAN LEIJER – 7
Subbed off for tactical reasons. Was on a yellow. Kept Djite quiet.
KOSTA BARBAROUSES – 7.5
Was the biggest threat for what was a quiet night up front for the Victory. Made some good runs down the right hand side, put some quality into the box however no-one got on the end of them.
CARL VALERI – 7
Plays that ugly role. Work goes unnoticed. Did pretty well considering he was under pressure.
ARCHIE THOMPSON – 6
MARK MILLIGAN – 6.5
Cirio made him look bad on the goal otherwise his presence definitely lifts Victory.
GUILHERME FINKLER – 6
His final delivery wasn’t there on the night. Otherwise quiet.
BESART BERISHA – 6
Didn’t see much of the ball at all. Looked flat. Didn’t adjust to the surface.
RASHID MAHAZI – 6
Came on late. Didn’t have much to do.
LEIGH BROXHAM – 6
Came on for Leijer at right full back. Did ok.
FAHID BEN KHALFALLAH – 7
Right place, right time for the goal. Otherwise did his job, and that was to come on and change the game.comments
