Leckie secures another Bundesliga season

Socceroo winger Mat Leckie will remain in the Bundesliga for at least another season after helping FC Ingolstadt to a thrilling draw in Germany overnight.

Leckie played 83 minutes as FC Ingolstadt played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Hannover at Audi Sportspark.

Alfredo Morales gave Ingolstadt the lead in the 10th minute with a thumping header before the hosts were reduced to 10-men after Romain Bregerie was dismissed for a last-ditch tackle.

But despite the setback, Ingolstadt doubled their advantage just 15 minutes later with Moritz Hartmann left unmarked in the area before heading home from close range.

Bottom-placed Hannover fought their way back into the contest with goals to Japanese duo Hiroki Sakai and Hiroshi Kiyotake but it wasn’t enough as the hosts held on for a crucial point.

The result leaves Ingolstadt in 9th spot on the Bundesliga table, 13 points clear of relegation threatened Eintracht Frankfurt with just three matches remaining.
