AUSTRALIAN midfielder Mustafa Amini scored the winner for Dortmund II against Duisburg in front of over 21,000 fans in the German third division yesterday.
His 32 minute winner was away to Duisberg and came courtesy of a deft left foot shot that was smashed into the far corner.
Amini’s agent Buddy Farah said Amini is in good shape and relishing the season ahead.
“Musti is working hard and adjusting to the box-to-box midfield role and is feeling fitter than ever," said Farah.
“He is just looking forward to more game time to enhance his overall game and allow him to keep developing.”
Last Saturday, the 20-year-old former AIS and Mariners star had been an unused substitute in a 2-0 loss for Dortmund II against Chemnitzer.
Coached by David Wagner, Dortmund II currently sit 13th on the 20 team German third division ladder.
During the off-season, Amini was a surprise exclusion from the Young Socceroo squad for July’s FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey.
But if he plays regularly, he could be in line for an Olyroo call-up later this year ahead of the Australian Olympic side’s AFC U22 qualifiers in Oman next January.
“Musti has set himself a number of games he would like to play in this season,” added Farah.
“We will sit down at season’s end and evaluate our next step.”
