Oar faces injury wait

Tommy Oar faces a nervous injury wait after being forced off with a knock to the knee in the Socceroos' World Cup loss to Spain yesterday.

The Socceroo winger limped off in the second half after a strong challenge in the Spanish box. Oar started all three of Australia's three World Cup matches and was a regular in the side in the qualification phase.

The 22-year old FC Utrecht midfielder, who is reportedly a target of Italian club Udinese, is expected to undergo scans in the next few days.

Socceroo head coach Ange Postecoglou said he remains optimistic regarding the extent of Oar's injury.

"It's still too early," he said.

"He's definitely tweaked his knee. The medical team at the moment are saying it shouldn’t be anything too major. He should be okay."
