Oar opens Ipswich Town account

Tommy Oar marked his first full 90 minutes in almost three months with a goal in Ipswich Town’s 2-2 draw with Portsmouth in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Oar opened the scoring on 53 minutes, converting a rebound to open his account for the Tractor Boys whom he joined in August.

The Australian has battled injuries since moving to England, but is finally fully fit and enjoying a crack at the first team.

The goal was another significant step in the right direction for the winger.

“It's been a shaky start for me with injuries and other things so it was important to go and get the full 90 minutes to make sure I'm ready for whatever role they [coaching staff] wan't me to play,” Oar told the club’s website.

"My last 90 minutes was a long time ago and I’ve made a few appearances off the bench, but starting games is completely different so it was very important for me to get the full game under my belt and hopefully I can use that as a foundation to grow from.

“Obviously it’s a busy period and we’ve now got another fixture which isn’t ideal but it is what it is so we have to make the most of it.”

Elsewhere, Rhys Williams got 45 minutes under his belt as he continues his recovery from injury as Charlton were bundled out 2-1 by Colchester.

Massimo Luongo and Jason Davidson both returned to the QPR and Huddersfield starting line-ups respectively.

Luongo put in a full shift as QPR lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest, while Davidson played 89 minutes in Huddersfield's 2-2 draw with Reading.

Shane Lowry played the second half as Birmingham City lost 2-1 to Bournemouth who had Adam Federici in goal.

Jordan Lyden got 10 minutes off the bench for Aston Villa, along with Mile Jedinak as Crystal Palace got past Southampton 2-1.

James Meredith put in a full shift as Bradford drew 0-0 at Bury.
