Pre-season: Reds see off City in FFA Cup warm-up

Adelaide United warmed up for their FFA Cup quarter-final clash with a 3-1 victory over Melbourne City on Wednesday.

Jimmy Jeggo opened the scoring on 16 minutes before Marcelo Carrusca and Sergio Cirio put the visitors three up within the hour.

Wade Dekker pulled one back for the home side on the stroke of full time, but United prevailed making it five pre-season wins on the trot for Guillermo Amor’s men.

The closed game was played in perfect conditions at the City Football Academy in Melbourne.

Inaugural Cup holders, Adelaide, take on the reigning A-League champions Melbourne Victory in a blockbuster quarter-final cup clash on Tuesday night at AAMI Park.

Meanwhile City face Victorian NPL high-flyers, Heidelberg United, at Olympic Village on September 29 as both sides look to progress to the semi-finals.
