Rogic keen to stay on at Celtic

Socceroo Tom Rogic has opened talks with Cetic to stay on at the Scottish giants after his current contract ends in 18 months' time.

According to reports, several English clubs have expressed an interest in the Australian playmaker. Rogic joined Celtic in January 2013 from the Central Coast Mariners in a four and half year deal worth around £400,000.

That contract finishes at the end of the 2016/2017 campaign. After a difficult early period at Celtic Park, marked by injury, Rogic has impressed in Scotland this season.

The 23-year old has thrived under the coaching of Ronny Deila and helped the Bhoys to top of the Scottish Premiership table.

Daniel Berman, Rogic’s lawyer agent, confirmed that the Socceroo star is in talks to extend his deal with Celtic.

“It is correct that we have been in negotiations to extend Tom’s current deal, and hope to agree something in the near future,” Berman told FourFourTwo.

“Tom is very proud to wear the Celtic shirt, and understands what it means to represent the club.

“Having played regularly this season, he is becoming increasingly influential, and is fully committed to helping the team achieve its goals domestically and in Europe.”

Rogic has made 25 appearances already this season, playing in both the Europa League and the qualification stage for the Champions League. The attacking midfielder has banged in six goals and set up four others.

Rogic has earned rave reviews for his performances in Celtic’s midfield and for scoring a number of spectacular goals.
