Socceroo winger Nikita Rukavytsya has made a sensational start to his career at Beitar Jerusalem, scoring on his debut for the club overnight.
The former Western Sydney Wanderers FC and Perth Glory attacker swept home his side’s third goal in their comfortable 3-1 victory at home to Hapoel Kfar Saba.
Playing up front, Rukavytsya was in the right place at the right time to tap in at the far post after a swift counter attack.
It was Rukavytsya’s first start for Beitar and he helped the club to their first win of the new season, following a defeat and three draws from the opening four matches.
As a result the club has jumped up two places on the ladder to 10th position in the 14-team league in Israel.
The debut goal follows Socceroo Tomi Juric’s impressive start for Roda JC in the Netherlands, netting his second goal in a week for his new club.
The 24-year-old scored his maiden goal in the Eredivisie against FC Twente, heading home from close range but unfortunately his side suffered a 2-1 defeat.
The match also saw Socceroos midfielder Daniel De Silva make his league debut, joining Juric and fellow Aussie Rostyn Griffiths on the pitch for the final 30 minutes.
Elsewhere, Aziz Behich had success with Bursaspor in the Turkish Super League, playing a full game in their 2-0 home win over Eskişehirspor.
And Olyroo Josh Brillante was substituted at half-time as his Como side registered a solid 2-0 win on the road against Novara in Serie B.
