Victory break all-time membership record

Nothing breeds success like success as reigning champions Melbourne Victory have discovered after breaking their all-time membership record.

The 2014/15 double title-winners ticked over 24,232 members on Tuesday, about 200 more than last season’s effort, with still a week to go before the campaign kicks off.

But it still remains about 1800 short of their target.

Victory chairman Anthony Di Pietro said he was delighted with the response from fans.

"We are incredibly proud and appreciative of the extraordinary contribution our members make to our club,” Di Pietro said.

"The atmosphere and passion our members generate at our games is second to none and an inspiration to all of us.

"Despite achieving a new club record, we have not reached our membership target for this season, so I encourage all Melbourne Victory fans who are not members to join us for what promises to be our most exciting season yet."
