Famously, the Chilean was told on February 1 of the 2015/16 season that his job would be taken by that bloke Pep once a (frankly, rubbish) season was over, so continued quietly to the end before being led morosely to the abattoir.

But there are no hard feelings for the 65-year-old, who wants to do his old club a favour in their frantic title battle with Liverpool on Monday night. “If we can give a hand to Manchester City, it's not our problem, but of course I am a fan of Manchester City also,” he twinkled.
