Sofia midfielder banned for punching

SOFIA - CSKA Sofia midfielder Shaloze Udoji has been handed a six-match ban by the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) for punching an opponent, the authority said on Wednesday.

The Nigerian-born 22-year-old was sent off after he hit Levski Sofia defender Veselin Minev midway through the second half of CSKA's 2-0 loss to their bitter city rivals on Saturday.

Udoji, who obtained Bulgarian citizenship in 2006, was also fined 4,000 levs for offensive behaviour towards match officials according to the referee's report.

Chasing a 32nd domestic league title, CSKA lead the standings on 62 points from 26 matches with Levski just a point behind in second.
