The possible return of Gareth Bale to north London has lifted Spurs supporters’ spirits after a dismal display on the opening weekend.
Tottenham were flat from start to finish against Everton on Sunday, slipping to a 1-0 defeat on their own patch.
Jose Mourinho was critical of his players afterwards, bemoaning their lack of energy and intensity out of possession.
He will expect a response at St Mary’s in Sunday’s early kick-off, but Ralph Hasenhuttl will also be looking for an improvement from his team.

Jan Bednarek was substituted at half-time against Palace for tactical reasons. His replacement, Jannik Vestergaard, looks set to keep his place next to Jack Stephens at centre-back.
Hasenhuttl won’t make wholesale changes to his side despite the defeat in the capital, with Che Adams likely to continue in attack alongside Danny Ings.
The former Birmingham striker made a strong end to last season after a slow start to his Southampton career.
Dele Alli was another player taken off at the interval on the opening weekend, and he could miss out on a place in the XI if Giovani Lo Celso is passed fit.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was poor on his Tottenham debut but will have extra motivation to shine against the club he captained last term.
Mourinho still doesn’t seem convinced by Tanguy Ndombele, so Harry Winks should keep his place in the engine room despite being overrun by Everton last time out.
Elsewhere, Steven Bergwijn could potentially come into the front three in place of Lucas Moura.
