Black Friday for Amor as Nix rout Reds

Adelaide United held the lead for just one minute before they were steamrolled 4-2 by Wellington Phoenix at Westpac Stadium on Friday night.

A goal to Craig Goodwin had the Reds in the lead on three minutes before Roy Krishna (4') a brace for Roly Bonevacia (22', 51') and a maiden strike to Matthew Ridenton (68') completed the rout.

A late goal to Pablo Sanchez (89') was hardly consolation for the Reds who remain winless this season and rooted to the bottom of the table after six rounds.

Meanwhile Ernie Merrick's men have moved temporarily into third place with the rest of the round still to play.

It was the Nix's first home game since the FFA threw the Kiwi outfit's A-League future into doubt, and home fans turned out in big numbers to show their support.

The match had barely got underway when a surging run down the left flank by Tarek Elrich stunned the homeside.

The Socceroo cutback to an unmarked Goodwin in the box who put the visitors in front on three minutes .

But the joy was short-lived as the Phoenix struck back immediately.

Goalkeeper John Hall was stranded in No Man;s land when Krishna got the better of Osama Malik and fired into an empty net to bring up the equaliser.

Moments later Bruce Djite stung the palms of the Nix custodian, Glen Moss in a helter skelter opening.

It was end to end but it was the Phoenix who capitalised on another defensive blunder from deep as Krishna put it on a platter for Roly Bonevacia who fired the Nix into the lead.

Bonevacia added his second after the restart with a stunning long range effort.

The Reds backed off the Dutchman giving him time and space to pick out his shot, and he placed a beauty into the inside side netting.

Jeffrey Sarpong came close to adding a fourth, smacking the ball off the upright, just after the hour.

But it was Ridenton who added the final touch to cap off a dispiriting night for the Reds.

Adelaide bossed the closing stages and Sanchez headed home to reduce the deficit but once again the Reds head home without the three points.

Wellinton Phoenix 4 (Krishna 4', Bonevacia 22', 51', Ridenton 68')

Adelaide United 2 (Goodwin 3', Sanchez 89')
