Cahill misses the cut for Fifa's Goal of the Year

Socceroo Tim Cahill has missed the cut for the FIFA’s Goal of the Year.

Cahill’s World Cup wonder strike was in the running for the award but failed to make the shortlist.

However, Ireland's Stephanie Roche (pictured above) remains in the hunt to become the first woman to take home Fifa’s Puskas award.

Her goal for Peamount United in October last year received more than three million views on YouTube and helped her secure a deal with French outfit ASPTT Albi.

World Cup goals by Colombia’s James Rodriguez and The Netherlands' Robin van Persie round out the shortlist of three.
