Dimas determined to plant roots

Recently re-signed midfielder Dimas Delgado is enjoying his first season at Western Sydney Wanderers and signalled his intent to become an integral part of the Wanderers team.

Dimas signed a one-year contract extension last week after forming an impressive partnership in midfield with compatriot Andreu.

“I’m happy to re-sign for one year more for Wanderers and I’m so happy here with my mates the relationship is still good and hopefully I can continue not just one year but maybe more,” Dimas said.

Since re-signing, Dimas was impressive against Newcastle Jets as Western Sydney jumped to second place with a 1-0 win.

“Against Newcastle it was a good result for us and against Adelaide it’s a difficult game because they’ve played well. In the two last matches the result was a draw,” he said.

Dimas is one of many Spaniards currently playing in the league, including upcoming opponents Adelaide United.

Coached by Spaniard Guillermo Amor and Josep Gombau before him, attacking duo Sergio Cirio and Pablo Sanchez are a formidable pair for the Reds.

Dimas said he has not spoken to any of his compatriots at Adelaide but is looking forward to an important game as Western Sydney look to increase its two point gap over the Reds.

“Not this week but I know the players,” he said.

“I know Adelaide is a good team and hopefully we will play.”
