Janjetovic extends contract

Sydney FC have secured the services of goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic for two more seasons after the glovesman put pen to paper with the Sky Blues.

“It feels extremely good to re-sign and represent the club who gave me my chance in football for another two years,” Janjetovic said.

“Sydney FC feels like a family to me and I can’t imagine playing for any other club.  I’ve been here almost four years and feel proud to be representing this city and our fantastic members.  They are a huge reason why I wanted to re-sign.

“We also have a fantastic base from which to build in the next few years, with a lot of young talent coming through from the Sydney FC Academy.

“Hopefully we will have a strong finish which we can carry into the latter stages of the AFC Champions League,” he concluded.

Janjetovic has played 80 consecutive Hyundai A-League games for the Sky Blues, which is a club record.

Graham Arnold is pleased to have secured a keeper of the class of Janjetovic.

“Vedran has been one of our best this season and I’m very pleased we will have him on board for the next two years,” said Arnold.

“It’s no secret how highly regarded he is among other coaches in the Hyundai A-League and he was offered deals elsewhere, however he has remained loyal to the club who have helped his progress from a young age.

“I’ve no doubt his best years are still ahead of him and under the tuition of John Crawley, the best goalkeeping coach in the country, I’ve no doubt he will fulfil his potential."
