Pablo double strike sinks Mariners

Adelaide United has kept the pressure on leaders Perth Glory by claiming a comfortable 2-0 win away to 10-man Central Coast Mariners at Bluetongue Stadium on Sunday.

Spanish midfielder Pablo Sanchez netted a pair of goals late in the first half to sink the Mariners, who are now winless in their past six matches.

Pablo opened the scoring on 40 minutes with a close-range header, before lashing home after Tarek Elrich's good run down the left flank.

To make matters worse for the hosts, Nick Montgomery was sent off midway through the second half after collecting two bookings.

The result lifts Adelaide back up to second, only one point behind leaders Perth.
