Socceroo Tom Rogic is in the air right now and could turn out for new Melbourne Victory in their grudge match with Sydney FC on Australia Day.
Rogic is expected to arrive from Glasgow soon and may be available for the Victory’s ‘Big Blue’ derby against the Sky Blues on Sunday.
Celtic and Victory have agreed a loan move for the 21-year old attacking midfielder for the rest of the season. Rogic will gain valuable game-time that has proved elusive in Scotland ahead of the 2014 World Cup.
The former Central Coast Mariner has made just 14 appearances for the Hoops since joining them in January 2013.
FourFourTwo understands it was the coaching of Kevin Muscat and the professional nature of the Victory set-up that sealed the deal in Melbourne’s favour. Sydney FC and Rogic’s former club, the Mariners, were also vying for the Canberra product’s services.
Victory will play 11 more matches in the regular season as well as potentially semi-finals football. The club is currently in fourth place on the A-League table.
Victory also have Asian Champions League football to look forward to before the World Cup.
With Mitch Nichols headed to Japan, Rogic could slot in the Victory line-up relatively seamlessly.5 comments
