Socceroos steady in world rankings

The Socceroos' world ranking remains unchanged at 61, while their opponents in Thursday night's World Cup qualifier, Bangladesh, have slipped three places to 173.

In the latest FIFA World Rankings, Australia retain their fourth spot in Asia behind Iran, Korea Republic and Japan.

Elsewhere there was no change in the world’s top three with Argentina continuing to lead the way ahead of Belgium and then Germany.

Wales the new best of British

Chile was the biggest mover in the top 10, jumping two spots to 8. Both Austria (up one to 13) and Congo (up 1 to 42) have reached their highest positions since 1993. England falls two places to 10th.

Colombia (4), Brazil (5), Portugal (6), Romania (7) and Wales (9) round out the top 10.
