Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hailed Mohamed Salah after the Epyptian's match-winning brace against Tottenham, calling the 30-year-old 'one of the best strikers you ever saw'.

Salah scored two fine goals for the Reds in the first half at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Klopp's side held on for a 2-1 win – their first victory away from home in the Premier League this season.

Last season's Golden Boot winner has been below his best at the beginning of this season, but has now netted in each of his last four matches and was the star man on Sunday.

"Even in his 'slow start', he was involved in most chances in European football," Klopp said after the match.

"He didn’t take them or we didn’t take them, but for a striker that is a completely normal phase. But everyone knows that in the end, when everyone looks back on his career in four, five or six years, everyone will remember one of the best strikers they ever saw because his numbers will be absolutely insane.

"What pleased me the most was that he scored the two goals, but that he played like a real, real team player. I'm not surprised by that, but it's just important. He was confronted by these questions as well, slow start or whatever, and then it is like you have to score a hat-trick or whatever. But it was first about defending and then he’ll get his chances again."

And he added: "Really pleased for him. A top performance and [he] showed an outstanding attitude."

Salah now has 14 goals in 20 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool this term and six in 13 Premier League games.
