Brentford will be looking to continue their promotion push when they take on Rotherham United in midweek.
The Bees edged out Queens Park Rangers 2-1 in Friday’s west London derby, extending their unbeaten run to seven games. There is a feeling that Thomas Frank’s side are beginning to click following a slow start to the season, which was perhaps inevitable given the hangover from last term’s play-off final defeat and the sale of some key players in the summer. Brentford head into the midweek round of fixtures in seventh spot, with just five points now separating them from the summit of the standings.
Rotherham’s recent form is less impressive, having won only one of their last six games in the Championship. A battling 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at the weekend was a step in the right direction, but Rotherham are without a win on their travels since the opening day of the campaign. Paul Warne’s side are out of the bottom three at the time of writing, and they will be delighted if that is still the case at the end of the season.
Brentford will again have to make do without Shandon Baptiste and Christian Norgaard for the visit of Rotherham, while their opponents will not be able to call upon Kieran Sadler, Shaun MacDonald, Clark Robertson and Chiedozie Ogbene. Brentford have kept four clean sheets in their last six outings, so Rotherham might find it difficult to breach their backline here.
