Federici to join EPL new boys Bournemouth

There will be another Aussie in the English Premier League next season after Socceroos goalkeeper Adam Federici agreed to a three-year deal with newly-promoted AFC Bournemouth.

Reading's Player of the Season will make the jump to the topflight after a decade at Madejski Stadium.

It is understood the 30-year-old will undergo a medical on Wednesday.

Out-of-contract at Reading, Federici moves to the South Coast club on a free transfer.

He will find it tough to break into the Bournemouth first-team, however, with experienced Polish shot-stopper Artur Boruc and Lee Camp all vying for the No. 1 jersey.

Federici experienced a mixed final season at the Royals.

He was superb for much of the campaign in the Championship, producing a string of fine performances as they pulled away from the relegation zone towards the end of the season.

But he is likely to be remembered for his embarrassing gaffe in the FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal, as a tame shot slipped through his grasp and rolled in as they lost 2-1 in extra-time.

Fans showed support for the custodian by launching #flagsforfeds campaign, which saw them wave Australian flags at the club’s next home match.
