Gallifuoco exits Victory after 'frustrating season'

Centre back Giancarlo Gallifuoco has left Melbourne Victory with his one-year contract ending.

Gallifuoco signed for Victory in September and made three appearances in the A-League and two in the Asian Champions League.

Originally from Sydney, the defender joined Tottenham as a teenager and has spent time playing for Swansea City’s Under-21s.

Gallifuoco has played for the Joeys, Young Socceroos and Olyroos.

He tweeted: “Unfortunately due to mutual agreement my time at Melbourne Victory has come to an end.

“I want to thank the fans for making me feel so at home even if it was only for a short period. To all my teammates who became brothers, I wish you boys all the best for the future.

“After such a frustrating season, I never took a day for granted and worked as hard as I could to give MVFC the best I could, despite not playing as often as I would have loved to.

“Nonetheless, my time in Melbourne will be remembered by the dedication from all the amazing fans and my teammates would made this year as amazing as it was.

“Thank you, again, and all the best to MVFC for the future. Now to the next chapter of my journey.”
