Perth Glory have confirmed winger Youssouf Hersi’s 2014-15 season is over due to an hamstring injury sustained against Brisbane Roar last week.
Scans have revealed a tear to the Ethiopian-Dutchman's hamstring and as a result, Hersi will undergo surgery in Perth later this week and is not expected to take any further part this season.
Perth Glory Chief Executive Jason Brewer said the club was focused on helping Hersi make a full recovery as quickly as possible.
"We're disappointed to lose the services of such a valuable player from our line-up early on in the season,” Brewer said.
“The club is now working with Youssouf to ensure the road to recovery for him, is effective and smooth as possible and that he receives all the support required.”
Hersi, who is also an A-League All Stars winger, said he too was bitterly disappointed his season had come to an end.
"I would like to thank my teammates, the club and fans for all their ongoing support and well wishes I have received over the past week,” Hersi said.
“I would like to wish the boys all the best for the rest of the season and most importantly good luck in the FFA Cup final against Adelaide in just over a week.”
