Kicking Goals 4 Special Olympics

The FourFourTwo team is letting out the kits and lacing up the boots to kick some goals (hopefully) for the Special Olympics.

It’s been closed training sessions for now, but expect a rampant, no holds barred performance, when the squad finally takes to the pitch on July 15.

Sixteen six-a-side teams will face-off in the round robin charity tournament at Hensley Athletic Field, Denison St, Eastgardens.

The main aim of Goals 4 Special Olympics is to raise funds so that more people with an intellectual disability have the opportunity to play sport.

There’s a Law enforcement torch run at 4.45pm before kick-off at 5pm and a Special Olympics Australia v NSW Police FC showdown at 8pm.

Squads will comprise of up to 12 players, with each team playing a minimum of four games of 20 minutes each (30 minutes in the knockout stage).

So before the FFT team hobbles off at the end of the night, we’re hoping that as many people as possible dig deep and pitch in – it could prove to be a real game-changer for members of the football family.
